1932
Mr. Lam Kwan, a graduate of the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, New York in 1929 established the China Paint Manufacturing Co. Ltd in the Castle Peak Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong in June 1932, making it be the pioneer paint manufacturing company in Hong Kong.
1932
Established FLOWER brand, mainly selling enamel paints, ready mixed paints, paste paints and clear vanishes etc.
1934
Company is moved from Castle Peak Road, Mongkok, Kowloon to No. 1 Arran Street, Mongkok, Kowloon. New factory attained a maximum monthly production capacity at 65,000 kg of paints, varnishes and lacquers.
1938
Established GIRAFFE brand, mainly selling automotive, industrial and electroplating spray lacquers, brushing lacquers, and thinners etc.
Late 1930s
Developed overseas business and exported paints to Philippines, Malaya (Later called as Malaysia), Sumatra, South Africa and other Southeast Asian countries.
1942
During the World War II, Mr. Lam closed the Hong Kong factory temporarily and set up a temporary factory in the Jiangxi Province, China.
1946
After the World War II ended, Mr. Lam re-opened the factory in Hong Kong and re-organized it to be “The China Paint Mfg. Co. (1946) Ltd”.
1948
Joined the 6th Exhibition of Chinese products, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
1949
Joined the 7th Exhibition of Chinese products, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
Late 1950s
Increased the product range by developing and manufacturing the baking enamels for the rapid-growing Hong Kong industrial market and exported synthetic enamels and lacquers to Thailand, Singapore and South East Asian countries.
1953
Joined the 11th Exhibition of Hong Kong products, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
1959
Joined the 17th Exhibition of Hong Kong products, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
Late 1950s
Moved the production plant from Mongkok to Kwun Tong premises.
1960
Successfully introduced into the local market of its architectural paints; initially the emulsion paints, which were aimed at those involved in the growing construction industry.

Created the FLOWER SONG and started to launch advertising TV campaign, apart from the radio campaign.
1971
Joined the 29th Exhibition of Hong Kong products, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, at the reclamation area of Wanchai.
1972
Entered into a ten year licensing agreement the Sherwin Williams Company, a major paint manufacturer in United States.
1974
Used a famous female pop singer, Betty Chung, to sing FLOWER SONG in a 30s TVC. The extensive advertising TV and radio campaign made the song very popular among the Hong Kong citizens.
1976
Formally set up a research and development department.

New polyurethane and epoxy protective coatings were successfully introduced and sold for the use of both the electronics and electrical appliance industries.
1980
Entered into a processing arrangement with the Shenzhen Carbeen Food Factory to process paint products for China Paint and China Paint also began exporting paints to China afterwards.
Made a series of famous TVCs.
Entered into licensing agreements with several world famous chemical and coatings enterprises, like the Desoto Inc., a leading can coating manufacturer in the United States, Becker Industrial Coatings (Sweden) and Goodlass Wall (UK) etc.

Developed and introduced a range of new industrial paints under the brand name of TOY BRAND, which consists of polyester, acrylic and PVC paint coatings for use on metal and plastic products.
1985
CNT Resources Ltd. acquired and took over control of China Paint. Thereafter, the new management headed by Mr. T.T. Tsui and Mr. Lam On devoted themselves to a continuous programme of improved paint manufacturing technology, facilities and marketing expertise.
1986
Achieved international recognition by the award of the “International Trophy for Technology” by the Trade Leaders Club and Editorial Office, a trade organization located in Frankfurt, Germany.
1986
Acquired a 25% equity interest in the Camrex Beheer B.V., a paint manufacturing company in the Netherlands, to acquire new technology in producing heavy duty coatings.
1988
Formed a joint venture with China North Industries Corporation, the Modern Paint Manufacturing Company Limited, to establish a paint manufacturing plant in Baoan, Shenzhen, China.

Erected the first phase of the Sai Kung factory in 1988 and was preparing to move out from the Kwun Tong premises. The Sai Kung factory occupied a total area of 20,000 sq.
1989
Entered into a licensing agreement with Goodlass Wall (UK) to market container coatings in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and China.
1991
Established the China Paint Mfg. Co, (Shenzhen) Ltd in Shajing, Baoan in Shenzhen. The new production base, with total area around 60,000 sq. m, attained the approved annual production capacity at 130,000 tons.

Became the major subsidiary of China Paint Holdings Limited (later renamed as the CNT Group Ltd), which went to public as a listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in May 1991.
1992
Established the Hubei Giraffe Paint Mfg. Co., Ltd, with total area around 30,000 sq. m.
1993
Technical cooperation with Resene Paints Limited (New Zealand), incorporating new technology of producing waterbased enamels, and also the colour mixing system of emulsion paints and waterbased enamels.
1996
Shenzhen production base was accredited ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard certification.
1997
Entered a steel coil coating manufacturing agreement with Becker Industrial Coatings Ltd and established the Becker Industrial – China Paint Limited; also formed a joint venture with Becker Acroma, the Becker Acroma – China Paint Limited, specializing in producing and selling professional wood lacquers and coatings.
1998
Entered a supply and manufacturing agreement of the Fluoro coatings with Daikin Chemical (Hong Kong) Limited.
2001
Awarded the “Hong Kong Top Brand” and the “2001 Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Award” in the 36th Hong Kong Brands and Product Expo, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong.
2003
Honoured the “Canton Top Brand”.
Accredited the “ISO14025 Ecolabelling” Certification.
2004
Joined the 39th Hong Kong Brands and Product Expo, held by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong.
China Paint test centre became the “National Recognized Testing Laboratory”.

Awarded the “China Top Brand” and “Shenzhen Famous Brand”.
Established the Giraffe Paint Mfg. Co., (Xuzhou) Ltd. in Jiangsu, with total area around 40,000 sq. m.

China Paint became the first selected group in the Government Green Purchase System.

Entered a licensing agreement of the “Zero VOC colourants” with Resene (New Zealand) and successfully mastered the “Zero VOC colourants” technique.
Technical cooperation with Bayer (Germany) in the waterborne wood lacquers, heavy duty coatings and toy paints research and development. China Paint and Bayer agreed to share the laboratories with each other.

Became a corporate member of the Green Council.
Has been one of the exterior architectural coatings suppliers in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Eco-environmental Construction Suppliers List.
Won the “2006 Top 10 of Architectural Coatings Brands” by the China Coating Industry.
Established the Giraffe Paint Mfg. Co., (Shanghai) Ltd and planned to build a modern production base with a total area of about 30,000 sq. m. This production base will start production in 2013.
Technical cooperation with Rohm and Haas (US, Later became subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company) and developed the low temperature elastic coatings and anti-corrosive coatings.

Won the East Week ─ “2008 Greater China Super Brand Award”.
Accredited with OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System-Specification by CNAS and IAF.
Flower Anti-Formaldehyde Odour-Less Interior Emulsion Paint (FPA Series) was accredited with “Eco-product Certification” (ECS) by Hong Kong Green Council, which fulfilled the requirements of “ISO Guide 65” and “System 5 of ISO Guide 67”.
2009
Entered into licensing agreements with Bayer MaterialScience (Germany) and Dow Coating Materials (US). Through the latter agreement, China Paint successfully developed the waterborne road marking paint.
Started building a modern production base, with total area around 260,000 sq. m., in Xinfeng, Shaoguan, Guangdong. This production base has been completed and in production during 2013-2016.
Being a corporate member of the Hong Kong Green Purchasing Charter (HKGPC).
Awarded the “Essentials of China: The Most Famous Original Brand Award” from Wen Wei Po.
Awarded the “Hong Kong Classic Brands 2009” from the East Week Magazine.
